The largest of the seaside townships, Bargara is only 13 kilometers east of Bundaberg and it is experiencing a development boom.

A variety of accommodation including first class oceanfront apartments, resorts, motels and backpackers is available.

A boat ramp near the clock provides a launching spot for a small craft. Fishing is possible off the beach, the rocks and offshore.

There are plenty of park areas for picnic tables. An excellent golf course, bowling green with tennis courts provides venues for the sports minded and children are well taken care of with playgrounds and skating facilities.

A first class golf course is located just behind the beach and a bowling green offers outdoor entertainment for people of all ages. Nearby, the Mon Repos Turtle Rookery provides a fascinating look at the endangered sea turtles during the nesting and hatching season from November to March.

The size of Bargara is approximately 9 km2. It has 7 parks covering nearly 6% of the total area. The population of Bargara is approximately 12,000.

Unit developments have exploded in the area with multi-storey resort complexes dotted along the foreshore. Non-view units start at $300,000 and escalate to $1 million depending on ocean views and location. Existing homes within a kilometre of the beach can be bought for between $320,000 - $350,000. New homes range from $400,000 - $450,000 on a 700 metre block. Vacant dry blocks range from $139,000 for a 600 – 700 metre block, with ocean view blocks averaging around $600,000.
